Nourish Your Gut Flora Smoothie

This smoothie is a delicious powerhouse of gut supportive nutrients. Pistachios act as a natural prebiotic because of its non-digestible food components such as dietary fibre. This fibre stays in the gut and feeds our good bacteria, stimulating their growth. They also contain phytochemicals that have the potential to positively improve the balance and diversity of your gut microbiome. Green banana is a great source of Resistant starch, which feeds our good bacteria and does not mess with your blood sugar or insulin levels. I have included a natural probiotic in the way of Kefir which adds another dimension to this fabulous gut loving formula..

Ingredients

1/4 avocado
1/2 green (raw) banana or 1 tsp organic green banana flour (I use Absolute Organic)
1 tbsp pistachios (buy them with shells and de-shell so that you can include the skin between the shell and nut into your smoothie.)
1/4 cup kefir yoghurt (or coconut cream if Kefir not available)
1/2 tsp Vanilla bean powder (I use organic Madagascan vanilla powder by 180nutrition)
1 scoop 180nutrition superfood protein powder (Coconut vegan)
1 tsp chia seeds
1/4 cup spinach (optional)

 

Method
Blend all ingredients together and enjoy.
Serves 1 happy gut
