This episode dives deep into the fascinating intersection of hormones and gut health during midlife. My guest and I explore how shifting oestrogen and testosterone levels in peri- and andropause affect:
- Gut motility, permeability & microbial diversity
- The gut’s crucial role in oestrogen and testosterone metabolism (hello, estrobolome!)
- Neurotransmitter regulation and its link to mood, brain fog, and sleep
- The impact of adrenal hormones like cortisol on inflammation and microbiome balance
- How sex hormones influence bile acid metabolism and fat digestion
- What happens to microbiome diversity with hormone therapy
- Practical dietary and lifestyle interventions to support both hormones and gut health
My favourite part? When we casually share our personal experiences navigating these midlife shifts, and in general, real talk that many will relate to.
